Forró at PA58

Forró is a Brazilian pair dance with a rich culture; it encompasses various dance types and musical genres. It spread from the northeast of Brazil to urban dance studios and across the globe. Music and dance styles diversified in the process, while the rural roots are always present.

Universities have played an important role in popularizing the dance; that's why the export version is often called Forró Universitário. Forró is a relatively close dance, making it a contact sport. Closeness facilitates subtle moves and invites leaders to listen to the followers' vibes or reverse roles.

At Prinzenallee, we're a bunch of Forró aficionados who like to dance in the spirit of a picnic among friends. The door is open to everyone, the drinks are cheap, and a little donation is expected. We do not make profits, but the sound system needs some maintenance, and some trifles have to be covered. This venue is a purely voluntary scheme, as we like our hobby to be non-commercial and amenable to all. On Tuesdays, everyone can be a princess.
